Finn Blaxland

Finn's Birthday (October 7, 2006)

Kirk to Spock, set coordinates for the Day Care quadrant.

First day of the week, being almost one and WAY over the weight requirements, Finn finally got to turn his seat around and look forward in the Finnmobile™. The long moonroof was nice and all, but looking forward is BOSS!

Day Two, Finn fell on the pavement in the day care playground not once but twice! He could be seen the rest of the week staring in the mirror saying over and over to himself "...I used to be beautiful...". There were four "incident reports" by the end of the week, the best one being Day Three, regarding the giant stain on his shirt after he bit his tongue and drooled blood everywhere. "It's not as bad as it looks".

Day Four, a shot of Finn taken at exactly one year old (to the minute) at 7.40am, October 5th, 2006.

Day Four, Part Deux. Not all daycare stories are bad ones. Here on his actual birthday, Finn and his buddies Jeremy (left) and [???] (center) chow down on the Jello mommy brought in (enclosed stapler not included). Finn dons the birthday boy cake hat in celebration. Note how much bigger Finn is than the other kids his age.

Day Five, thanks to some instructional tips from Grandmother Kim over the weekend, Finn manages to scale a 15 step staircase twice in one night! Has not figured out how to get down a 15 step staircase, but knows the first step is to admit you have a problem.

Day Six, on your birthday you get to catch the cat. Finn has been much better at softly petting Guppie, but he also feels hugging is in order to really show how much he cares. Comes off more like a WWF wrestling move, but he is working on it.

[NB. Those of you who feel the need to correct our previous paragraph and mention that the WWF was forced to change its name to the WWE can send their emails to Finn. Management feels that the Wildlife folks could do worse than to have big ugly fellows in multicolored spandex mistaken for panda bears].

Finn on the way to his birthday bash at grandmother Janey's house.

Two grandmothers and Colin prepare dinner.

Finn discusses house construction techniques with his grandfathers. So THAT's how you do radiant heating he thinks to himself.

Cousin Jay hides behind a halloween birthdayween cookie.

Finn goes for a spin with cousin Jeffrey. Nice hair Jeff!

Finn clocks his cousin Julia with an excellent left uppercut. That'll learn ya Jules...

Finn's first birthday cake. Spooooky!

Finn thinks blowing out the candle is inefficient, and instead goes for the jugular.

Finn plays with his food again. That slice of icing laced goodness ended up in the carpet a few moments later.

A Chris and Finn moment.

Jay on Julia's shoulders as his mom rushes over to tell him not to do that. Nice teeth Jay!

Finn opens presents with his dad.

After the official opening, Finn gets down to business with his own inventory check list.

Photography Notes

It was a busy week leading up to Finn's birthday party, lots of one year old changes to make and lots of new experiences to be had. Presents and cakes are great, but jello is cool!
