Finn Blaxland

Finn at the Beach (June 21, 2006)

We hit the Boardwalk with Finn a la Stroller, it's a lovely day and Jenny finds time to take some quick calls. We were not really packed for a beach outing, so to keep the sun off his newly minted pinkies, Finn dons the back up Santa socks with not matching fishing hat.

Finn really likes the spectacle that has been layed out for him here. Fell asleep in the car for 2 hours then woke up to this! That big pipe going into the ocean is no doubt for the magic dust they add to the water which makes any time at the beach so much fun.

A great Boardwalk shot for those who have not met one before. Lots of mini golf, bad shirt shops, hot junk food and of course Johnsons Caramel Pop Corn. US folks can note that most Australian beaches have no shops at all. You might be lucky to find an icecream truck, though a few of our favorite beaches like Manly have great cafes and more.

Of course one must partake of the fine foods of NJ, and here we see Jenny ordering up some hot dogs, some curly fries and if he's lucky some funnel cake for the turtle. Mmmmm.

Finn seems to be pretty excited about seeing his first Merry-Go-Round. He did not ride it though.

Nor did he ride this beast. Not recommended after funnel cakes. There are a lot more rides (that is...any) at these NJ beaches when compared to Sydney.

Finn's first moment above the ocean (again the incorrect attire is noted).

Finn's first moment IN the ocean.

Finn and Tom post water. Good times indeed.

Photography Notes

With a late cancellation from the Millennium crew, we found ourselves in the Finn Mobile™ on a work day speeding towards New Jersey and suddenly with no-where to go. So we turned on The Brain (iDrive) and it told us we should go to the beach Das Wasser shore points the shore and the imaginatively named Ocean City, NJ.

When looking for images of Ocean City, we found this old one of Grace Kelly (3rd from the left) and her family vacationing there. Interesting to note that back then the men and women wore more clothes, but the girls wore less.

Sydneysiders would be interested to see that there is an Avalon beach in NJ as well. US folks will love to see an image of Avalon beach in Sydney.

A Grand Day Out was has by all and Finn looks forward to going back soon.
