Finn Blaxland

My First Snow Day (Feb 12, 2006)

The front of the house (from the garage) before 3 hours of shovelling cleared a path out the front door and down the driveway. Official snow total was 17 inches but wind blew snow up to the house making some areas over two feet.

Finn taking a snooze in the car seat with his main man Mr. Sun (inverted). Finn is now only a few pounds short of a new car seat which has already been ordered from Amazon. He will have to be inserted and removed from the new seat while in the car and we are not looking forward to that. Being able to carry him in and out of the house in this seat has been beautiful in comparison.

To be added to the toy line-up as soon as the sheriff is back in town, OX is an Ugly Doll™ which we think is awesome. Finn likes him as those long ears fit quite nicely in ones small mouth and taste like chicken (not a guarantee).

With snow everywhere the sun was quite bright in the back room. Finn can be seen here with Mom pondering the BIG question...that's right...do I like to eat fish or not.

Unlike his dad, the answer seems to be YES. We'll have the family vet soon fix that. You can see Finn's new star shaped aquarium houses all the major fish groups, your pink and blue striped fishies, your smiling sea horses, your smiling crabs...

Smiling that is until they start to get eaten. Definitely tastes like plastic (pat. pending).

Note Finn has joined the cheerleader like trend of placing large important messages on his arse. Ba By Gap Sheep...Go Team!

The shire does look quite lovely under a foot or so of snow. This view is out the family room window looking over to the neighbors barn. One day Finn, this'll all be yours.

Icicles hanging down from the eaves of the S.H.H. (where we never put back up the gutter...makes for better icicles). The new Guppie P. Guppenstein Memorial Laundry Wing also looks good in the snow.

After a lot of shovelling and a carefully aimed snowball which scared the crap out of Finn (a window saved him), the sun sets on another day at the shire.

In the dark of night the texture of the shovelled snow really comes alive. As does the warm lighting inside. Note the snow on the front door.

Someone had a great snow day today!

Photography Notes

This is the first big snow we have had all winter. It was a good one too. A little north of us it was the biggest storm for 60 years in NYC. For us it was not as much as a few other storms we recall...like 2003 or 1996, and since it was during the weekend it was not very disruptive at all. Oddly enough, the night before we ordered the new AWD car...which will be very useful on days that look like this and present roads of ice.
